USCIS regulations allow TN status for 3-year increments

Until October 16, 2008, regulations governing TN visas (for nationals of Mexico and Canada who fill temporary positions in specified positions under NAFTA) only permitted TN visas to be issued in one-year increments. In October 2008, the regulations were amended to allow TN visas to be issued in three-year increments for all petitions and applications that are filed on or after October 16, 2008.
