Employment-Based Fourth Preference The employment-based fourth preference "special immigrant" visa covers two different categories of immigrants: (1) persons seeking reacquisition of citizenship and returning residents, and (2) religious ministers and workers. An applicant filing for a fourth preference employment-based green card as a minister or religious worker must have been a member of the sponsoring organization's religious denomination for the two years preceding the filing of the petition, and the sponsoring organization must be a bona fide, nonprofit, religious organization in the United States.
