K Visa

The K-1 visa is for fiancées/fiancés of U.S. citizens. The K visa holder must enter the United States with the intent of marrying the petitioner, be legally able to marry, and, unless waived by the consulate, have met the petitioner in person within the two years preceding the filing of the petition. The visa holder must marry the petitioner within 90 days from the date of entry into the United States, or he or she will be required to return to his/her home country. Upon completing the marriage, additional documents must be filed to become a lawful permanent resident.

Under the LIFE regulations, the K visa has been extended to allow the spouses and unmarried minor children of U.S. citizens to live and work in the United States while waiting to get permanent residence. Please contact our office for more information.
